My first post

Hello everybody,
I am selling my 99 BMW 540 and I am considering a BMW 525, 530, or a CLK 320. Last weekend I decided to take the CLK for a test drive. My first thought was how nice the car looked, but once we took the car for a spin, I was not impressed with the performance or the handling. Yes, the car had decent power and handled "okay," but I was left feeling like it wasn't worth all that money.
I will say, I have been a BMW-lover for more than 15 years and because of that I may not have given the car a fair chance. I would like to see if I can get some objective opinions on the CLK.
I hope that people will not rip me for this post. Understand that I have registered on this site for the sole purpose of learning more about the CLK 320. Thanks for any info that you can give me.

A bucket on wheels
hey...welcome aboard.

Let me give you a bit of my background info as an intro.
my father is a die hard bmw fan. has a 2001 530i fully loaded and my mom has a 2003 clk320 and i have a 2002 c230 kompressor.

I drive the clk enough to know that, the handeling of mecedes isn't as bad as people make it out to be. The clk320 is deffinatly a beautiful car to cruise to and enjoy everything really. If you do trackdays(auto-X) then this might not be the car for you. If you are into modding then it would be a coin toss but the clk modded looks absolutely stunning. The acceleration of the 320 is more then adequate and i do not feel you will be dissapointed. The appearance of the clk gets mixed reactoins. (particularly by those who own the previous model). My mom had the previous model and traded that in for the curren more updated version and i feel the newer one is a huge improvement. Everything from the seatbelt givers(or whatever they are called) to the b-pillar less body. People still glance twice at the car with all the windows down. i get a lot of good reactions and stares and compliments.

Now the bmw is a well handeling sedan that has always been known for its excelent performance abilites. With that said, i absolutely hate the newer version. The interior is very badely done(wood trim in center console but aluminum trim on doors...could bmw not decide on one trim?) and the I-drive has so many bad reviews that i can't even imagine how bad it is. If you are going to go with the previous model(pre 2004) then i say go for it, you will not be dissapointed. But if you are in fact buying a new car then go for the mercedes. you will love it. I tried not to be too biased towards the mercedes but i am one of those people who loved the looks of the older bmw's and hate the looks of the new ones.
