CLK320 2002 c209 just died and won't start again.

Was on my way home and as i just turned into my house, the engine just dies.. me panicking as it got hard to steer.

It won't start again and the startkey sticks in the start position and won't spring back to normal position ( i have to turn it back manually).
Everything else works: Lights, blinkers, radio, hazard lights etc..
Nothing special on the display i think.

When i opened the hood there was a mouse squirring away.. has he eaten some cables?

Can i use Android Torque Pro with adapter to see what the problem is?

Well.. I tried starting today, and it started and i could drive at max gear 2 to my own garage.
I used my "good as **** on bull moose" android to read codes. It read: crankshaft position sensor A circuit faulty" CODE P0335 .. So i guess android torque is not ***..

NO LONGER ACTIVE
CPS failure is common (not that it happens to everyone, but it seems to be one of the most common failures on modern MBZ engines compared to other problems. The engine dying and the failing to start, then later starting and running fine are typical symptoms. It seems the CPS is prone to failure at more extreme temps. And sometimes its failure does throw a code which can be read by generic OBDII scanners.

Now, regarding your other issues - the failure of the key to spring back to position 2 after switching on the starter is unrelated. In fact, I think it's really just some sort of mechanical failure of the EIS (electronic ignition switch). Locking into 2nd gear is called "limp mode" and this usualyl indicates a transmission problem, though I think ESP/ABS problems can also cause this. Diagnosis of this issue will require a proper scan tool that can read DTCs from MBZs proprietary systems, and your Android toll won't do that - it only reads generic OBDII codes form the ECU.
