BTW, did you order the same part? I am ready to order and majority of the places are selling it for ~$50ish to $60. Where did you order it from, which website?
Thanks for the help
P.S: will the color code be different in my case? See attached from data card or it'll be same(209-680-02-84-7376 )

You should double check with them about a color, you just need to send them your VIN.
Definitely you can buy whole armrest lid from junkyard, but I don't think that it would be easy to find one in a good condition

Yep, I bought the same part. I prefer this guys mbdirectparts.com. I bought lots of parts from them.... maybe even too many Most likely they wont have it it stock and it usually takes 5-6 days for them to receive it from german, but I don't think that any of shops have it in stock.

Else, I'll drop the idea of used and just buy new

It makes it harder
If it's your daily driver car I'd go with used one, it's easier to install

Thanks, that's not a bad idea. I'll give it a go on the old one, anyways.
Since I'll be receiving a new one tomorrow.

Alright, I used crazy glue and seem like it's not holding it. Also, I have received the new part and lock cylinder is empty.
Based on the 'German' video, I can just use a mallet and slide the old one out. Is that correct?
If so, I know WIS document has been shared. Is cylinder replacement fairly simple?
I just don't want to break anything
Thanks for the help.

I have the lid and old latch removed, now looking at the screenshots. Should I just break the lock and swap it in?
Thanks for the help

If by "break the lock" you mean remove it from old latch and install it into new one then are right If you'll have problems with it I can try to make a video how-to

So I followed your direction and instructions posted on WIS, this is what I am left with, is that it or I have broken something else while pulling this cylinder out?

Yeah it did work like a charm and cylinder is in, though new latch seems more gray

BTW, I must say your lid in post#7 looks in great condition!
I was able to put everything back by watching that benz video. I must say once you understand the logic, it's very simple before that, it's a ROYAL pita.
Previously my old latch was broken and hence lid was a true pain.
Now it's working like a charm. Thanks again dzmitry for all of your help and patience. Without you, I could not have figured this out!!! I double salute you

Mine is 2004 with 76k miles, but previous owner let's say didn't really care about it much. Interior was trashed
I disassembled almost every piece of interior and cleaned. Now trying to fix soft top and assemble everything back
