Would they fit with the bulb cover in place I wonder.

You could look at a set from retrofit source. You'd have to drill out the headlight cover and use an extended cover that comes with the set. You also need ballasts (kinda like HIDs) with that specific set. Way too much of a hassle if you ask me...Plus I've not been impressed with the life of LED applications so far. The negatives outweigh the positives so far.

I'd wait till they make a smaller version that fits properly, doesn't need ballasts, has a decent lifespan. Until then I'd go with an HID conversion...same hassle, most likely way longer lifespan for the bulbs.

Something to be aware of... you're going to sacrifice road illumination going LEDs for any forward projecting lights in housing not designed specifically to capture LED surface mounted light spread. You typically end up with reduced throw distance, uneven lighting, and dark spots. You're better off going with an HID conversion. Let us know if we can help you out. We carry top end Morimoto units

100% concur. LEDS would be my last choice for headlamps. Have you tried H7 4000K bulbs. I run PIAA 4000K in my 2005 CLK high and low beam and they work really well. Very nice white light that really gets out there and lights the road as well as the sides when the high beams are on. HIDs just seem like more work and expense than any advantage in visibility over the PIAA 4000K halogen
