rear spoiler removal..
I understand that they are put on at the factory with 3M tape..
I'm thinking about going to a black spoiler.
Any advice..?

Basically you heat the contact area between the spoiler and car (causes the double sided tape adhesive to soften), then use a thin (and strong) string to "saw" through the adhesive. Heat and "saw" along the contact point from one end to the other.
A regular hair dryer works as the heat source.
Doubled waxed dental floss (the thickest you can fine) or thin fishing line works as a "saw" string. "Saw" with the string being pulled against the spoiler contact side. The string is being pulled through the adhesive on the spoiler side and not against the car surface.
A small wooden or plastic object (less than half the diameter of a pencil) is useful to keep the spoiler from coming back in contact with the car surface after being "sawed" loose.
Regular "goo off" or "goo gone" works to remove the adhesive left on the car surface. Use an alcohol dampen microfiber towel/rag to clean the "goo off". Then use regular car products (cleaner wax, wax) to clean the surface.
