Thermotronic needs modification for fresh UN-conditioned air

I wonder can anyone help or direct me to a site that has information regarding modification of the Thermotronic (Climatronic in USA I believe) (digital) system in my 2007 W209 CLK63 (Coupé). As inane as it seems, this system does NOT allow fresh UN-conditioned air into the car using the Thermotronic-system fan. All modes that activate the fan also engage the air-con (except REST). As I live in a cool, dry climate I NEVER need the air-con function and wish to be able to admit fresh UN-conditioned air into the car without having to open the windows or sunroof. I would be grateful if you know of a modification that will allow the fresh-air/recirculation flap (Motor M2/5) to remain open to enable the fan to draw-in fresh-air with the air-con modes de-selected. Temperature control is also a consideration I would guess! Alternatively, perhaps an additional switch inserted in the signal cable to the compressor could allow manual selection yet allow full functionality of the Thermotronic controls, sans running the compressor. No mystery as to why Mercedes cars smell like hockey change-rooms, a terrible design decision! Thank you, Allen.

All flap actuations are initiated by the AC control unit and front SAM---you are wasting your time with a switch---you will have to open up the system open the fresh air flap and disable the the motor!

Try sterilising the system. In the UK my a/c is never disabled and I've never had any foul smells. Surely stopping it running will only make it smell worse when you do need it.

WIS actually has instructions for drilling a hole in the duct to spray an anti-fungal:
