2006 CLK 500
Need help - CPS replacement
Is there anyone in the DFW area willing or able to give me a hand replacing a CPS on my 06 CLK 500? I can't find where it is located. I know where it is supposed to be but can't find it.

Well, yes, but usually a bad CPS causes the engine not to start (it will rotate, but not fire when cranking), or it will die when running. Is that what is happening to you? or do you have another reason to believe it's bad?

Just picture where your engine mates to the transmission. The CPS is on the engine side of that line.

Should the top part of the MAF come off of the elbow just by pushing back on the retaining metal clip at he rear of the MAF where the top and the elbow meet? Videos online are of different models and are rotated back and up to remove the entire assembly. The 550 has the plastic tabs at the very top, so rotating the entire assembly doesn't seem doable. It seems to me that the top and bottom are removed separately and the rear metal clip is all I see holding the 2 pieces together but it won't come loose.
I have the top rubber hose and the AOS hose disconnected. Disconnect the AOS hose at the AOS end.
Need help getting the (#%#* thing out.

Glad you got it, because I am not sure I can explain it. It;s just one of those things you need to feel for yourself. Luckily, the M272/M273 engines use brackets on the MAF sensor that are much easier to deal with than the older "handshake" brackets on the M112/M113.
