Having a problem with the AC in my 2006 CLK 500

The AC stopped working. There was a rattling sound coming from the passenger side dash, that sounded like a fan rattling, and then it stopped and the AC died.

I have read on the forum about blower fans needing to be replaced, and not sure if this is the problem, or if there is a different fan that would need to be replaced in this model.

Anyone with experience of this problem who could advise?
