Brake Pads for Track Days
Hey all,
So I had the CLK back out at Black Hawk Farms for opening day. What a blast!! However, we were getting slight brake fade after about 10 minutes. A cool down lap was usually enough to get another 5-10 minutes out of it to finish the session. I was hoping to get some opinions on other peoples brake setup to see if we can get rid of the fade.
The car currently has the follow on all 4 corners:
-Stoptech slotted rotors
-EBC Yellowstuff Pads
-SS Brake Lines
-Motul brake fluid
Has anybody tried other pads at the race track? The yellowstuff is made for agressive street/some track. The orangestuff is their track pad, but i dont see it for the CLK. I was hoping people might have some experience with carbotech or hawk?
Before you say it, yes, brake ducting would also cut down on fade. I'm hoping that will be done sometime this summer. The temp at the track was low 60s, so a 80-90 degree day will probably cause a lot more fade, and cooling will be needed im sure.
Otherwise, we also threw on some Toya R888s and WOW do they hook!! Traction control still kicks in and cuts power, and turning it off really helped accelerate out of the corners. Best time of the day was a 1:26 (phone gps, so accurate to within ~1s).
OO, how did I forget. Got the H&R Sways on there and those also really help to keep the car level!!! Was very impressed with them for the price.
