Hi Dave, welcome to the forum! The difference is whether or not you have the upgraded audio system (Bose or Harmon-Kardon). Those systems have a subwoofer there instead of a tray.

I think coupes don't have subwoofer in between rear seats so all of them have this small storage, right?

Correct. And I think I have seen one convertible for sale that way. Although P1 was an "option" package, literally everyone must have purchased it besides this one person.

Yeah, that's probably true. Looking back at the dealer presentation docs I have, it does mention the tray only on coupes. All USA W209s came standard with the upgraded audio, so the cabriolets here always had the subwoofer between the seats. In other markets where that was an option, maybe they had the tray when equipped with standard audio?
