Convertible Rear Window Does Not go Up or Down
I have a 2005 CLK500 Cab. The roof works fine except for the rear window raising. When the back hatch starts to open I let go of the button, then have to get out and lift the rear window and then get back in and lift the button to open the roof the rest of the way.
Similar problem occurs when I close the roof. When it get to the trunk hatch closing I let it go most of the way, get out manually lower the rear window so it goes into the catches and then get back in to finish lowering it.
I am not sure if it is a switch that triggers it that is broken or the hydraulics. All the rest of the roof operation is perfectly fine.
Any clues where to start to look would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect it's electrical. Maybe this:

It could also be a weak hydraulic cylinder. How's the fluid level?

The fluid level is in the middle. I was the same last year, so I don't think there are any leaks.
I am going to check that switch in the lid. Thanks for the fast reply and sending the manual page. Its a big help.

I checked the switch with a ohm meter. When I push the chrome cover down and release the switch opens and closes. It seems fine.
The hydraulic pistons, for the rear window, are dry and do not show any signs of leaking.
When the roof is retracted, down, the fluid level is almost at the full line of the reservoir. Is that the proper level?
I agree it is probably electrical. There has to be another switch that tells the cylinders when to close or open the rear window. Would you know where that one is?

I found the problem. It is the Soft top compartment cover in catch position limit switch. I did a search for limit switch locations and found one of you old posts with the limit switch locations:
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w209...ml#post5527380
I inspected them and found the lever for the Soft top compartment cover in catch position limit switch had broken off.
I taped a piece of small piece plastic on to it to temporarially test it and it now works. I am ordering a new limiti switch and will soon be back in proper operation.
Thanks for the help!!!!
