2005 CLK500 Performance and Visual Mods
Hey all, I just got a 2005 clk500 coupe, and the car is great the way it is. I am looking for advice on simple mods I can do to increase the performance or just make it look better. I am also not looking to spend alot of money, so if there are any simple and cheap ideas, I would love to hear them. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! There's not much you can do for performance. There are ECU tunes available with big claims, but little verified increases in HP or torque unless you combine that with major work like headers or even a supercharger, but then you're spending several times what you paid for the car. As for appearance mods, there are plenty, ranging from a more updated grille to full body kits. Good luck!

Airbox upgrades are popular, and they may improve sound, but I really don't know if they give you measurable increases in power. I'd like to see a before/after dyno test of that mod, just as I would with ECU tunes and such. Everything I see on the forums is just "butt dyno" impressions and not hard numbers. Of course HP is HP, so even adding a few is better, but unless you just like to tinker and money is no object, you're probably much better off trading for a more powerful car (CLK550, CLK55, etc.)
Of course eBay is a good source for mod parts like grilles, bumpers and such. Often, I find the part and seller on eBay, the see if they are a retailer with their own website and buy direct - it cuts out the eBay middleman fees.
