Power trunk needs help...

Power trunk needs help...
anyone else have issues with the power trunk buttons on the trunk itself? Often I'll press the lock button, and it will start to close then stop. If I then press the close button, it will sometimes close, sometimes do the same start and stop, but I can "help" it with a thumb on the button and a little finger pressure on the trunk itself. That technique won't work with the lock button though.
If I'm on the way out (as opposed to just got home) I can jump in the car and close with the button on the driver's door no problem.

yours always closes, whichever button you press? hmmmmm..

I doubt it has anything to do with the buttons themselves - the just send a momentary signal to the soft top controller and it does the work by operating the hydraulic pump and opening the proper valve to operate the cylinder for the trunk lid. Assuming the soft top works with no problems, then I suspect the trunk lid cylinder is failing.
