Center console lid stuck
2005 Mercedes CLK convvertible;
Granddaughter tried to open the lid by pushing both side buttons-
Now I cant open the top with either side button or pull up the entire center section to get to the lower storage area.
HELP

Thanks- had those which are good for attaching which I have done twice when lid came off by some unknown sequence-
the only thing I found on another on another site thread follows; I have big diameter fingers so after looking again at the videos and the thread about small fingers,
I guess I will need to try screwdrivers or something to depress the back tabs while it is still installed:::: then the front lever and side buttons.""It happens frequently with my wife. It's difficult for me to explain the procedure but it's fairly easy once you've done it.
In the crack below the top lid, there's a release mechanism that you can reach with your fingers to release, if your fingers aren't too big.

My dual hinged lid is also broken. It was broke when I bought the car and after investigation it looked as if the internal lock-hinging mechanism is snapped.. I’ve pulled it very hard as it was already broken, and that allows me access via one side. However because the lid never fully locks shut, I’m unabke to access the bottom compartment without using my finger to depress the catch. A minor inconvenience, with too substantial a cost to justify it. I think I would rather switch to the sliding cover that some cars have. Although I’m not sure of the compatibility of that setup with my Bluetooth telephone module.
The dual hinge is a really neat feature but it’s asking for trouble now that the cars are getting older!
Being a convertible, does the centre console have a remote locking function too? Or is it simply the glovebox?

It's not just age that causes this - it's a "user issue". When I worked at the dealership, we had at least one customer a week come in with the console lid in hand. And these were brand new cars. I sat in a C-Class one day and tried to figure out what series of events or ways of handling it would cause this. I could never do it. But one day, I was doing a demo ride with a customer and he reached over to open it and - off it came!

The center console is suppose to also lock when the car is locked; nice so no one can get in it when parked with the top down.
Will try some different things today to try to get the lid off/open.

Finally got lid off; my method- hopefully understandable:MY procedure to remove stuck lid with front part way up:use screwdriver(or something) to depress front little latch down at front of frame holding lower storage container to lower container all the way down;wiggle finger under the front of lid and depress pin 4 (and hold);push in side button to release that side of lid;then push & hold center front pin and rear lever ; then push side button( standard procedure to release other side)Reinstall simple procedure:

For some unknown reason a lady tried to open the
center console / armrest lid straight back -
This action caused the lower black storage bin to
lift up about .75" and become stuck / wedged tight -
I mean tight as I have used some pressure (ie. force)
to try and push it back in -
As well as the entire lid / armrest coming off -
In doing a search I found this thread regarding the lid
but was un-able to find any info regarding the raised stuck
storage bin and how to re-install correctly -
If any forum members have experienced this situation
and were able to get the black storage bin back to its original
position please share or provide a link -

How is the center armrest lock removed -
I removed the top cover for the lock mechanism
but that is as far as I got -
The one video from Benzworld makes no sense to me -
Still waiting for the new armrest to arrive from The Fatherland
and I just learned today that the lock needs to be changed over
to the new armrest -

FWIW. The front flap/lock assembly was available not that long ago as I just replaced my smashed up one.
If you get a replacement you can literally break out the old one as its all plastic.
That should allow you to get the cover off and then follow the pdf above and/or find the good instructional vid on youtube.
How one is stuck up is weird as all the happens to make it go down is a plastic spud getting pushed down very front middle.
