clk 500 w 209 2003
stuck front seats

hi ! i have a clk 500 2003, and i have recentley got problems with both my front seats(electrical). when i try to move the back-rese, the headrest will not go down, and therefor the seat wont move forewards, so i can not get into the backseat, and this problem has occurred on both sides. can it be the seat Control-modules, or is it something else that may be broken ? a frien told me that because it is on both sides, it may be a wire or something in the electrical chain Before the modules, that has broken down. is this a common problem, and are ther many of you on this forum that have had a malfunction like this ?

This is not going to be a common electrical problem as the seat controllers are totally separate. However, it is likely the same problem with both headrests. I seem to recall a forum member (here or on mbworld) found a bad solder on the motor that operates the headrest.

hi Rodney and thenks for your reply. i forgot to mention that the motors in my seats works fine, and i am able to adjust them, so i wonder do the headrests hyave their own motor, and if there is no bad solder or something like that, have any idea or Heard from someone else with similiar problems, what it could be ?

Yes, the headrests each have their own motors mounted in the seat back. It's easy to remove the panel on the seat back to access it.

Sorry for resurrecting the old tread. Don't want to create another one.

I found the totaled w209 on one of the junk yards and would like to get the perfect seats from it since the seam on mines started to rip. Door control module and switches are already gone. 2 rear screws are hidden, so I need to move the seat forward. any ideas how to make it happen? I believe it's not just an easy like connect 12v to the motor, since most likely the motor may have control wire as well besides the +12v.

It's just a DC motor with a servo circuit to determine its position. I believe you can just apply voltage to the white and black wires to operate the motor. Reverse polarity to reverse direction. Here's the wiring diagram:

Another alternative might be to take a sawzall and cut through though the seat frame or bolts of you can get to them.
