Front sitting too high
So wonder if any one here can offer a bit of help please.
Got a 2003 209 CLK 320 coupe with 105000 miles I've just had all the front track rod arms changed, and at the same time had the shockers and springs renewed. Also had the rear shock absorbers and the spring changed too Problem is now the car sits far too high at the front - rear is fine.. I can place my hand in-between the front wheel and arch and still have room to spare.. Spoke to my indy who suggested the springs were wrong, so bough another pair from a Merc specialist. but - although the ride is smoother - the hight is still the same. Be grateful if someone could offer a suggestion of what to do next .. Cheers |
Were the control arm frame bushings tightened with the car lifted? If so, that could be the problem. They are only to be tightened with the weight of the car on them.

Many thanks for the thought Rudeney - Don't know the answer to that one ...:nix: Would you suggest we loosen them, then tighten them up with the wheel jacked up?Might that help? Cheers |
I would try that and see if it helps.

Done that, and it's a bit better, so thanks for your advice.
Maybe it will settle a bit more after a few miles.... |

Regarding front height issue, ensure top strut caps are aligned & mounted correctly on strut. Strut cap is somewhat cone shaped but cap is shorter on one side vs other side. If unsure of alignment, go to MB dealership and they can provide you schematic of correct alignment. I recently reinstalled my front struts but I did one at a time, using the other as a template for proper strut caps alignment.
I have the MB workshop manuals where this is explained in some detail .. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...f796d56ec8.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...aef19641d0.jpg |
