Camshaft seal replacent

So my serpentine belt shredded and then suddenly i have an oil leak now....im guessing that when the belt shredded that some of the rubber wrapped around the camshaft pulley and somehow affected the se to the camshaft....does this sou d correct? Anyone else have this happen? Is this seal something i can replace myself?

I had a belt shred on a C240 (same basic engine) and the pieces of it ended up inside the alternator. I think you mean crankshaft pulley - not camshaft. Even so. I don't see how it could affect the seal, tough I guess it's possible. I'd clean everything well (including parts of the old belt) and determine the exact source of the leak.

If it's just the seal that was damaged, it's a fairly easy repair. Remove the crank pulley and the seal is behind there. It just snaps into place, so use a screwdriver to pull it out.
