2006 clk350
P0016

I have a 2006 clk350 that keeps giving me code P0016 I have repleaced all of the camshaft position sensors but it keeps still give me the same code. I also have a strange alarm going off coming from the factory alarm speaker but it is not the factory alarm is a very high-pitched sound any ideas on either one of these would be great Lee appreciated thank you.

Hi Jacob, welcome to the forum! Please take a moment to update your profile and add your location (at least country). P0016 is not a symptom of camshaft solenoid or position sensor problems. It is a symptom of the notorious "balance shaft" failure. You need to get a proper diagnosis by pulling codes with a scan tool that reads MBZ-specific DTCs. P0016 is a generic OBDII code and can stand for any of four MBZ DTCs. But givne your car being a MY2006 with an M272 engine, it is most likely balance shaft failure.

As for the alarm sound, the ATA siren is likely failing due to its internal battery leaking on its electronics. I'd unplug it until you get a replacement. It's located under the wheel well liner, behind the front passenger wheel.
