Heater issue

Has anyone had an issue with the heat in their CLK? Mine is warm but it won’t get hot. It seems that my auxiliary coolant pump is working as well, but a mechanic said it might not be working all of the time? I can plug it in/unplug it and feel a vibration difference. 2006 CLK500

It seems the passenger side defroster will put out hot heat, but the drivers side won’t. When switched to upper vents it blows luke warm. When the blower setting is on low the heat is hot as well, but as you turn it up it seems to cool off. Very odd.

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Try the ACC reset/test: Engine running, simultaneously press and hold the FRONT DEFOG and RECIRC buttons until their lights begin to flash. They will continue to flash for 20-30 seconds until the test completes. If they don't stop flashing, then there is a fault (probably a bad damper servo) that needs further diagnostics. Shut the engine off to exit the test. Otherwise, if they stop, then the issue is with the engine cooling system, maybe a bad thermostat.

I move tried the reset and it doesn’t make a difference unfortunately. What are some other signs of a thermostat issue? My auxiliary pump does kick in as well.

How long does it take the engine to reach operating temp (about 80C)? Unless it's far below freezing, it should warm up within abut 10-15 minutes. If not, you could have a bad thermostat.

The engine warms up within 10 mintutes without an issue. The gauge climbs about halfway as it always has in the same amount of time.

You probably need to read codes from the ACC module. You'll need a tool that can access MBZ's proprietary systems - a generic OBDII scanner won't do it. SDS (Star Diagnosis) is best, or the iCarsoft i980 or MBII, or the Autel MD802 Elite can all do it.

I had a bad thermostat a year ago and was able to reach 80 while parked but would go below 80 on the highway. Now (after installing an OE thermostat), the temp gets above the 80 mark parked or on the highway.
