CLK thinks it's 1976
A very trivial problem, I acknowledge - but I can't set the date in my 2007 CLK350. I can set the time fine and even change the date format (dd/mm/yyyy etc.) but there is no way (and no instruction in the owner's manual) to set the date. The really weird thing is that the date has the correct day and month - but the year is 1976! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

This is a bug in the code for the COMAND unit. It gets its date/time data from the GPS satellites, but that system only broadcasts the "week number", not the actual year. The weeks roll over every 19 years because the maximum value is 1024. COMAND is not automatically recognizing this, so it ends up with a strange date. As far as I know, there is no fix.
