CLK500 NEW ROTORS AND PADS

`

I just ordered new rotors from R1Concepts.com -

https://www.r1concepts.com/eline

I went with the Eline drilled and slotted rotors as

I am an old man and don't drive as fast and hard

as most of you do -

I wanted the drilled and slotted rotors for looks -

For hard driving R1 offers these:

https://www.r1concepts.com/geomet

I worked with Kevin at R1 and he gave me the

best price shipped by far compared to the other

brake / rotor companies I spoke with -

Kevin@r1concepts.com

He addressed all my concerns and while I have

had issues in the past with other companies rotors...

Kevin did not have any negative comments about

other companies - he just sold me on R1 -

I ordered on Tuesday and the rotors are slated to

be delivered tomorrow which is Friday - FAST -

UPDATE -

I went with Akebono pads as I have used them for years

on all my vehicles and have never had a problem with

squeaking / noise and they leave the least dust of any

pads I have ever tried -

I have never tried / used any of the pads that R1Concepts

offers on their website so I am unable to comment on them -

Since the install I have had no squeaking - no problems stopping -

no dust and have had 5 or 6 compliments on the look -

I am very happy with the set-up -

The install was done by Paul at Centrum Motors in Bellevue -

He knows Mercedes -

Pictures by Jay at Eastside Auto Salon (EAS) in Bellevue -

Thank-You

Also I forgot to add -

If you contact Kevin let him know that

you are an MBWORLD forum member -

R1 is a forum sponsor and is a vendor

that offers a forum member discount -

Thank-You

NO LONGER ACTIVE
Good info DB! I like the D+S rotors, too. I know they are not recommended for track driving, but like you, I prefer the looks and I do think they work well in everyday driving. I have to disagree with Akebono pads. I had a really bad experience with them on my CLK550, being both noisy and not having good stopping power. I have just come to like with the dust from OW pads. It does seem to wash off easily and stopping is great and noise is absent.

RODNEY -

As to your problems with Akebono pads it may

be the difference in climate -

In the Seattle area we have wind and rain and

the ladies are all wearing long hooded parkas -

Down south where you live it is always warm

and sunny - the air is filled with the scent of

sweet magnolias - the girls wear halter tops

and have blonde hair -

I've have viewed movies that showed this to

be true -

This may be why Akebono's work for me and

not for you -

You can't have the best of both worlds -

Merry Christmas to you and yours -

Thank-You
D.B.

Nine month update -

After a long cold wet winter with two

major snowstorms and now heading

into the dog days of summer my rotors

from R1Concepts look like new -

No marks - no rust -

No problem stopping -

The Akebono pads make no noise and

if I wanted less dust I would need to

install CCB's -

I would install this set-up again -

Kevin at R1Concepts was great to work with -

And I still get comments -

Thank-You
D.B.
