2003 CLK320 Random safe mode

Hi
I have a 2003 CLK320. I have recently replaced the Mass airflow sensor with a new one from Bosch and its been running fine for about 2000mls or so. I now have a problem where it loses power intermittently and for a very short time...maybe 15 secs or so then all is good again. Its not throwing any codes or engine light warning.
Its quiet confusing and I would like to know if anybody has had anything similar or an ideas where to start. I know its difficult without a code. My code reader is a simple unit...

Thanks

Roger

NO LONGER ACTIVE
First of all, is it going into limp mode where the transmission locks into 2nd gear and won't shift, or is it just performing poorly? If it's actual limp mode, there will be codes, but you should get a scanner that reads MBZ-specific systems. If it's just performance degradation, I'd first check all the seals you disturbed in replacing the MAF sensor, including the air cleaner housing (make sure it's fully seated). Also, are you sure it's a genuine Bosch MAF sensor? The market is flooded with fake parts. Amazon and Ebay quite regularly sell fake Bosch parts.

Thanks Rodney
The MAF was bought from Bosch and has their part nos etc on it so I hope its origional!
I will check all you recommend and feed back...I am not sure about the safe mode as it occures very quickly then quickly rectifies itself.

CLK500
I recently replaced my MAF sensor on my '04 w209 (was experiencing engine stuttering/hesitation) and noticed very shortly after some intermittent engine lag (tough to reproduce) but glad to say it managed to resolve itself.

CLK 320
I too am in the market for a MAF sensor.
It's crazy; it may be safer to get an actual Bosch one through Auto Zone than Amazon lol
