I am having an issue with this IR sensor as well. I have it removed but my sensor is not the same as the siemens in the pictures. Mine is a KALEX3 and is mapped slightly different. Is there a part that we can order for the sensor? mine works when i am about 1cm from the sensor but farther out and nothing.

I have no clue if you can get a new sensor anywhere. There is no MBZ part for this except a new door lock.

I’ve had both IR sensors replaced. Just the sensor. I had the dealer do this while my car was there for other service. They did not change the door lock so you might want to check with your local parts dept.

If you don’t mind me asking, what did they charge? I tried repairing mine and it made an improvement but still I can only get consistent response from within 4-5 feet. I would like to order a new one rather than get a junkyard part
