Broke trunk latch...trunk will not close clk350

Will take it in, but surprised that a small piece of plastic that was dropped on the latch broke the whole thing? It fell down on the latch area, I tried to close it, wouldn't close at first or at all. Tried to use manual key to open and close the latch... no dice. What did I break here?

Maybe you tripped the latch to it's closed position. But it should unlock (move to open position) if you just use the FOB trunk open button. If that or the manual key is not working perhaps it is jammed as a result of trying to close it while in the latched position. You could try to move it to the unlatched position with a small screwdriver after putting a shot of WD-40 on the latch joints. You could also try the emergency trunk opener in the trunk (green light/button) used to open the trunk if you lock yourself inside...…
