What am I doing wrong..

What am I doing wrong..
My cd changer in the glove box just stopped working..couldn't eject the magazine, I tried fuses, tapping on the magazine. Nothing worked.
I found one on Ebay from a 08 CLK 550 for $109. Only to receive it, the power cable hooked right up, the fiber optic cable would not fit. The cable on my 09 was larger than the changer.Did the connectors change that much from year to year?
any advice would be welcome..

Thanks Rodney, just when I think ive done my homework on these things, its something that I never thought about. (FO plug).
Do you know which year MB started using the larger FO plug? Im sending this changer back, but still looking..
