320 Trunk lid pneumatics - done
The wife's trunk lid was dropping shut. I'm pretty sure one of the cylinders was shot. Both were covered with surface rust.
Ordered (2) Magnetti Marelli from over the pond on ebay. No special reason why I went with this brand.
They arrived today, pristine. It took over 4 weeks to get here as the company I ordered from didn't ship the items for over 2 weeks and then a week to get over here and 2 days to get delivered.
Say what you will, but the USPS is pretty darn efficient.
Anyway, to replace:
Open the trunk & hold or brace it open.
Use a flat blade screwdriver to pop the black metal retaining band at each connection point on one pneumatic at a time.
with the band off, it pops off a ball joint easy-peazy.
I saw metal filings around the ball so clean it & put a dab of grease on the ball before popping the new pneumatic on with just hand force.
One at a time so you dont have to remember which end of the pneumatic goes up![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
do other side.
done in 15min. for like $20
