Gearbox hard changing solved 209 320 cabriolet
Gents I had to share this. I bought the CLK for a bit of fun to go to the beach in etc. Not long after buying it the battery went flat and within a couple of months I had problems with the box (5speed 2004).
the box was hard shifting and didn’t know what gear it should be in.
so after reading everything under the sun the following actions were taken. NO CODES
i changed
oil
filter
no change
multi-plug and checked TCU
nonchange
pcb in the box and checked condition of actuators. Resembled
box would only go into 1st
i then bought a second hand box out of an E class I think
fitted but the same issues
bought car soft
changed the tcu
no difference
then my mate bought star
and yesterday after clearing all the adaptive settings on the box and torque converter. It drives like a dream beyond smooth.
So I must have spent at least £650 trying to fix something that was a software fault.
The gearbox is common throughout the Merc range and that’s where I found out about resetting the adaptive settings in the box.
