Soft top won't close by key
Hello,
I have a question about my CLK 500 2004 Cabrio, if someone can help me I would be greatfull. Not long ago I was able to open/close my soft top by key, but now I m not able any more to open it or close this way. Everything else is ok with the car, only this closing and opening with key wan't work. So can sombody help me with this isue? Thank you.

You do this by standing a foot or two away and pointing the key at the IR sensor on the door handle, right? What happens is that the IR sensor quits working d to its harsh environment. There are some ways to fix this, but honestly, I would not bother. Instead, invest in the SmartTop controller. It makes the soft top work the way it should have until the MBZ lawyers got involved!
