Halogen to HID

I just came up on a factory set of HIDs from a clk63. I currently have Halogen lights. He is sending the balast and control module. I know they will just swap in but i seem to remember somone doing this and saying that the ECU needs coded for the change. Can anyone confirm?

Yes you'll need to recode your ECU to set xenon present. You'll need a STAR diagnostic machine

They do make aftermarket kits for xenons you can add for like $500. They give you everything and it is just plug and play. I did it on all 3 of my CLK's.
