2005 Phone Question for MarcusBenz
MarcusBenz,
You seem to have access to a lot of valuable information. My 2005 CLK Cabriolet was ordered with the factory phone. The dealer provided me with the phone at delivery (Motorola V60s). The upper part of the center console has part of the phone mount installed (plastic base with a flat plug). However, the cradle is apparently on back order. The service department provided me with the part number (Q-6-82-0920, Paragon #635978), however when they inquired about the delivery date for the cradle, they were told that there is no ETA. Do you have any more information about the cradle? Otherwise, I paid a big pile of money for a phone that you can get for free from Verizon (I know b/c I also have the same phone w/o the Mercedes software).

Ah you can't just stick a Verizon phone in your Mercedes. They are wired different although they may look the same. The Mercedes phone allthough expensive really works very well.
It's a shame that when deliver the car they can't deliver all the car

Since your car is a 2005, I assume it has UHI. Please see my pictures and I can tell you. CHeck the picture of the center console with the flat connector. http://homepage.mac.com/drsunilpatel/PhotoAlbum14.html If it is the same as mine, then you have UHI and you are lucky. You can change to many cradles. DIfferent phones too. But, I don't mercedes will sell other cradles here besides the motorola one. Let me know.

Sunman,
Yes the part that is in my center console is the UHI Connector Clip that appears in your pictures. The part that I'm waiting for is the Motorola V60s cradle.
Chip,
Sorry for the confusion. I have the Mercedes V60s phone that was delivered with the car. I also have a second V60s phone that I received from Verizon (I know that it won't work with the Command system).

If you have the same clip as my car then you are a very luck person. That clip is for the UHI phone system and you can add several different cradles to this clip. Nothing else has to be done at all. Also, you don't need a Mercedes Phone to use with it. You can use stock phones with it. DO a search on UHI. I have a Nokia Cradle in my car and going to replace it with a Nokia 6230 Cradle soon. Part numbers have been issued out for the cradles already. I doubt these cradles are available in USA though since Motorola and MB contract. I get mine from abroad.

MBUSA is going thru growing pains yet again with the phone technology and if you have the V60, it has to be the MB phone. If you plug an non-MB phone into the system, it will not work and have potential for damage to the electronics of the car. They are in the process of upgrading the phones to V600 & V710, but will still be MB specific and you will not be able to just plug a regular V600 into the system. I am not sure about when the cradles will be available, but I am sure that they are working as fast as they can to get the problem resolved.
