2009 CLK550

After closing convertible top windows don't raise

Hi, my 2009 CLK550 has a top operation problem (I think). At the start of the opening sequence all four windows lower correctly. When the top closing sequence is complete my understanding is the windows should raise. None of the four windows move at all. The rear (quarter) windows have no express up/down either but the door switches have no operation detent so this may be normal.
I am new to this car and the manuals allude to the windows closing after the roof closes but nothing is definitive.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem?

I came here looking for a solution to this as well. I have same year and same issue. Somebody might chime in.

2009 CLK550 convertible, 2012 ,,E550 Cabrio, 2012 Audi Q5

I had a 07 Cabrio and the windows closed after raising the top. Sold the 07 when I found a 09 550 Cabrio with 27K fully optioned with Keyless go and the windows did not close after raising the top. I brought the issue to the selling dealership and I learned that the feature was changed in 09 due to safety regulations, potential for children to trap arms in closing window. I also have a 12 E class 550 Cabrio and the windows do not close.
