Anyone try to repair their Alarm Siren?

My alarm siren started acting up and after researching this forum decided to disconnect and remove the alarm siren and disassembled it only to find relative mild acid corrosion on both sides of the circuit board. Using a toothbrush and soapy water I thoroughly scrub it clean and left it in the sun to dry. To determine whether the circuit board was still ok, I removed the old Varta batteries and I hooked up one set of 3x AAA in series(4.5V) and one set of 2x AAA(3V) in their place. Tested the alarm and it worked!! In the mean time I have sourced a replacement set of Varta batteries, around $25 for both(South Africa), and as soon as I get it, I will report back. I am including some pictures below.
