Coolant fan doesn’t engage until ac turns on/ no heat
I’m new here and if there’s another thread can you point me in that direction? My new to me 2003 CLK320 w209 coupe gets up to 95-100 degrees on temp gauge and the radiator fan never turns on. If I turn on AC or heat the fan starts spinning on what to me looks like a low speed. Today I flushed and changed the coolant because it looked a dingy orange color. When I turned on the heater to get the core circulating with water. The air stayed cold and never got warm at what I assume is normal operating temp of 80 degrees. After flushing water and filling with blue coolant to the full line I went to the parts store and let the car run while I went inside with the ac running on lowest setting. The car got up to 95 degrees on temp gauge and started blowing hot air in the cabin. The top radiator hose gets hot and when I squeeze it it feels like there’s a lot of pressure. Is it my thermostat? I’ve read there might be a thermo switch or is that built in to the fan control module? What about the aux water pump on the coolant reservoir?
