BRABUS springs?

Ok so one of the benz shops here has a set of brabus springs he can give me a good deal on. Ive tried to search more on these but cant find much info for CLK's. The shop mechanic says they are really rough and very low, but from what i gather they are not that low and still relatively comfortable but with better handling. Any of you guys driving on less than perfect roads with brabus springs care to comment? Thanks.

I live just outside of Manhattan, so i experience less than perfect roads everytime I pull out of the garage. From my experience, the Brabus springs are relatively comfortable, but noticebly stiffer than the stock springs. When I drive, I pay extra attention to the road to make sure I avoid potholes, uneven pavement, elevated manhole covers, cones, trash, etc. Because when you run over something, you will notice it.

And I am not sure how you would characterize "too low," but I would say the drop is ideal. I have about one finger clearance in the back and two fingers in the front.

I had them on my car when I first bought it and took them off after a couple months because I thought the drop sucked. The ride is fine, alot softer than my coilovers but stiffer than stock. I'd skip them, but that's just me.

Jon,

From what I have heard, they have a more comfortable ride then the H&R sport springs. I was looking into this when I first wanted to get springs, but then found out that the brabus springs cost around $550 just for the springs. It seems to match the stock comfort ride well, but I will warn you now, if you are looking for a drop that will give you that tuck look, these springs nor any springs will give you that appearance without you cutting them. Your rear drop will look nice, but for the front, there will be about a 2-3 finger gap. As for the Brabus, I think the drop is not as low as H&R springs. If your looking for great suspension and that perfect drop, Id suggust H&R coilovers, or KW coilovers. Hope this helps....

Thanks guys, im not looking to lower it much at all just to tighten up my handling as every road around where i live is pretty windy, why not have less body roll and more fun right? Im going tomorrow morning so we'll see how it goes, infact its a set of used springs that some guy had on his CLK for a short time and decided to go with eibach instead cuz he complained the ride was too stiff and the car was too low. But our cars in HK are already much lower than in the US so im confused as to how low these springs will actually be??

Mmmm, judging by the pics, I'd say maybe 1/2 - 1" drop max....BTW, I don't think he ever mentioned low

I find it very surprising that the guy will say Brabus springs are very low and stiff. Brabus and Eibach springs are the two that have the least drop and most comfortable. Both will give you slightly improved performance and yet, keep the ride comfort very close to stock.

Jon: I still suggest you to get the one that I recommended you.

Brabus springs are not $550, only $410.

Harris,

What did you recommend him? And what would you recommend to anyone who just want's to get rid of that nasty gap after upgrading to 19" without spending a ton of money?

Renntech's are apparently the way to go for just a spring change. I didnt get the brabus ones since for some reason the guy sold them AND their advice just didnt seem to flow with everyone elses on the boards, i dont know if its something different about US and Asia cars but they claim the brabus springs are very rough and way to low, low enough to kill the stock shocks, and my car is already nearly as low as frisco's with the brabus springs. Oh well. Thanks frisco for the pics btw, kinda wished i had gone with Brabus wheels actually.

i have the brabus springs on mines. the drop on the front on my 19's is perfect. in the back its a bit high for my standards. others might find it ok. i live in so cali, orange county. the ride was stiff and good for the first few weeks. but it roughs up the stock shocks. mines are about to blow i can feel every dip, bump, crack in the road. the 19's dont help either. i am hoping to get a new suspension kit. but not sure if i can trust brabus's. i havent tried any other sports springs, but i find brabus's a bit too fragile.
