04 CLK 320
Mass airflow sensor prob. and now torque converter and transmission

My 04 CLK had a mass airflow sensor replaced at ~6000 miles 2 months ago. Now just found out the torque converter needs to be replaced. The dealer told me they need to replace the whole transmission as well. The dealer said it will take about 2 days.

Anyways, does anyone know why they have to replace the whole
transmission in addition to the torque converter?

I saw a thread that they have redesign the torque converter, is it true and why?

Mass airflow sensors are a common malady according to MBtech208. I have been reading here that the TCU transmission control unit, needs to be replaced not the trans and converter...check this out with your dealer.
