p0442 small evap leak

p0442 small evap leak
Hello Everyone I am getting this code P0442 . Which says small evap leak . I changed the fuel cap to an oem brand new one and I am still getting the code . I pulled up the air filter box and checked the hoses everything is tight there is not leak . I have no smell of gas or anything like that . I tried sprayer carb cleaner around all the rubber hoses to see if the engine rpm change and nothing . any idea what usually causes this on these cars ? Thank you

Could be related to the charcoal canister near the fuel filler tube or the hoses around the fuel filler hose/channel. Below is a thread in the W203 forum where they discussed the issue.

I took out my star computer and I attempted to test the purge valve and do a fuel tank leak test . The purge vlave is working but I think it might be the culprit because star is identifying it as the culprit . But When I run the fuel tank leak test it goes on for a min and says test stopped because the specified value for vacuum was not reached .can it be the purge vlave ? or do i need to keep looking?

mine as the shut off valve and a leak on the filler tube. fyi when i replaced the shutoff valve i replaced the harness and it reversed the polarity.
