loud noise from engine
ill let the forum members tell me I’m nuts.....
if you think the power steering pump is shot remove the serpentine belt start the cold car briefly to see if the noise is eliminated by isolating the pump.

The ps pulley is wobbling side by side but the hydrolic steering wheel is working ok is working ok ,
when i install the belt the pulley does not wobble but making loud noises.
is it safe to drive until it gets fixed???
can i rebuilt the pump with the internal bearing or is it shot?
ok we got more information.
replace the pump with new. Not sure if you can even rebuild these. New runs from $90-400. While you got it torn down might also replace the filed reservoir. The reservoir O ring and ring groove tend to wear out.
not such a hard job. Enjoy.

The ticking you hear could be the fuel vapor carbon canister valve pulsing open and closed. It usually happens around start up. Someone else in the forum could come back and say that carbon trap was removed years ago. But I got one on the left hand side of the engine compartment. Same side as the PS pump.
See what you've done? You made your engine purr nice and quiet. Now you hear other things in the night.

since the belt is ribbed and travels in corresponding grooves on the pulleys that do work I doubt these are sliding back and forth. More than likely it’s either an idler pulley or the belt tensioner. Those bearings can fail. The description you provided regarding the belt noise and location makes me think the tensioner is shot.
