Same platform, similar interior design (center console).
Coming from a 203, I must say I love my 209 a lot more... There are many more features that are standard, and the b-pillar-design is just beautiful.

c vs clk
I have a CLK 320, 800 miles on it; brought my car in for an adjustment and MB gave me a c240 as a loaner...huge difference.
although they share the same platform, the clk is much more car.
the c class feels solid, but is very compact..can't wait to get my CLK back today.
well worth the xtra $20K

2002 S500 & 2004 CLK320
different car, clk has solid feel, its a totally different ride,, it feels bigger to me,, inside has much more room, CLK is more of a 2 door e class, they already make the 2 door c coupes.. clk is a baby cl class, onew of my fav, benzes,,
