Back Into the Benz World CLK500
Long story short, I sold my E55 AMG, and purchased one of my dream cars (Fisker Karma).
My wife and I are in the car industry(wholesale). I purchased a subaru from a dealer only under the conditions that I take away a 2004 CLK500 that has been sitting for a year, for free.
The car obviously has a dead battery and needs a detail. It ran and drove great before they parked it. It needed some front end body work but when it was parked they got swamped and never got around to it. Now it's in my possession.
It's got 150k miles. It doesnt crank, it doesnt start or try and turn over, none of the electronics work. The key fob might not be recognized however I'm not sure.
My first test is the battery, and coding it to the car, as I've heard when this year of Benz's battery dies, the ECM doesn't recognize the key-fob. Is there anyway it could be something different? Such as the SAM, ECM, or TCU unit of sorts? I'm sure this thread will turn into a headache of a restoration project. The wife and I agreed that if the car isn't up and running by the end of May, we will be gutting it and turning it into a street car with either an LS, or some variant of manual/V8 swap.

There is not such thing as "battery coding" for w209. Did you install new battery already? Does instrument cluster works?
BTW, speaking of v8 manual swap https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...0-v8-swap.html
