2005 CLK 320 Cabriolet
Did I just buy a lemon?

Guys I'm pretty frustrated right now and I'd really appreciate some help.

Car is a 2005 CLK 320 Convertible.

Test drove the car last evening from a private seller. Everything seemed to be working fine.

Just completed the deal today, paid the money and brought the car home.

Upon arrival at home, I notice that the following things are non-functional.

AC not working (pressing the buttons does nothing)
Pressing convertible top button does nothing
Hazards are not working.
Central Locking is not working.
ESP button does nothing.
Basically most buttons located on or above the AC console (including the AC and convertible top) are not working.

Radio works (and that's the only thing I turned on as I drove back home about 2 miles from the owner's place).

The previous owner took the car for inspection today and also washed the car.

Yesterday when I test drove, Convertible top worked just fine as did the AC.

What could have gone wrong today?

Is it a fuse, relay? Seems certain the problem is electrical.

Where do I begin to troubleshoot for something I bought a few hours ago?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just fixed a non working top by making sure the outside trunk handle was in its home position. They start sticking when they get old.

You should really run the car through STAR/DAS/Xentry... that will show any pending/previous/current codes/faults. Without running that you are literally guessing at what could be wrong and or spinning your wheels trying to figure out or where to even start.

Find someone local or go to an indy that can scan the car, get it scanned then report back with the findings. Otherwise we are guessing at problems that you might/might not have.

MB’s
Sounds like the exact same story with my 2004 CLK320 Cabriolet. They filled the fluid just enough to make it run and get me home and sign papers. The only MB i have ever bought that either I did no PPI or came with warranty. I broke my rule once and I got screwed ($9,000 in repairs later) Anyways I hope you get your issues worked out. I can already tell you however be careful of the slippery slope. If the cost keep adding up just dump it!

-Try recharging the A/C first.
-Check to make sure the fluid in the system for the top to run.
-Check fuses as well.

If it worked the day before and all they did was wash it, check the fuse box for water leakage.
If I get overly aggressive with cleaning the engine bay, the electronics get wonky. For me, specifically, it's the dash console. I lose programming.
A day sitting in the sun usually helps with my issues.
