Can I simply replace my electric seats control modules?
Hello all.
My 2003 CLK 500 has electric, cloth seats, but now I have purchased a very nice set of leather seats and the rest of upholstery. The "new" seats are also electric (from a 2007 CLK).
My question is: can I simply replace the whole seats, with their seat control units underneath, or do I need to exchange these control units and keep my old ones because they are "tied" in some way to the rest of the car, DCM, etc? I wouldn't like to go to the dealer for programming, etc.
Has anyone done this?
Thanks!

No coding required.
I think it is worth checking to make sure there aren’t different controllers.

Thanks, Breeze247, that's extremely useful information. I will copare the old and new seats and hopefuly the ecu is identical. Otherwise, I hope the motors and connectors are the same and I will have to exchange the ECUs.
Will keep you updated.

Well, after installing my new seats, I can confirm that they are plug&play. The ecus under the new seats didn't have the same number than mine, but anyway they worked like a charm at first attempt!
Thanks for the information!!!
