Heated Seats Problem
I have a problem with the heated front seats on my W209 2006 CLK Cabriolet. Both heaters have stopped working and as far as I can tell, they both stopped at the same time, the lights on the switch come on and go to two then one light but no heat. I have checked the fuses, both are ok, and the seats and cables are not open circuit. A car electrician has checked the system using his diagnostics and can find no problems other than the Upper Control Panel. When a heater switch is operated he can see the signals from the UCP to and from the front SAM but the seats do not heat, however if he operates the seats via a signal from his computer to the UCP then both seats will heat. I have since tried three different second hand UCPs (all of which were stated to be fully operational) and none make the seats heat. It seems extremely unlikely that all four UCPs would show exactly the same fault, so where should I look next? As the front SAM appears to be the only other component involved, could there be a problem there? Is it possible that it has lost it’s coding for the heated front seats option so does not recognise the signal from the UCP? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
