MAF air flow sensor replacement

Hi,

I have a 2009 clk550 with 95k on it and I’ve noticed the acceleration on it has lagged a bit. When I first got it the car it was way more responsive and fun to drive. I dont believe the MAF sensor has been replaced and was wondering if this would help increase the acceleration. Engine upon accelerating sounds like it’s taking in too much air or something.

how can I improve the ride? Any tips?

MAF sensor.

Hi, your best bet is to grab a can of MAF sensor cleaner and give it a good clean including the inside of your air box to help keep the sensor clean. The sensor should be cleaned every service.
You could possibly look into performance air filter elements, I seen people mention them but I don’t know of the brands. Maybe someone here might know. I’d like some as well.
Also while you have the MAF out clean the electrical connections.
Nearly forgot, also check all your hoses and airlines for cracks and make sure there’s no air leaks.
Hopefully others have some more tips.

You should probably just start with the routine maintenance first and see if there is a need/desire for anything further. I think spark plugs are recommended at 100k, air filter, check cam plugs and PCV at rear of engine for leaks. As suggested by other member, clean MAF sensor. Check for any error codes and address.

I read somewhere that cleaning the maf sensor does nothing and you just need to replace it. Original part for this car is over 300 and there is no CEL on. But if it will improve the performance I will definitely replace it.

If you have an error related to the MAF sensor then most often cleaning will not correct the problem. For "peak" performance cleaning is helpful. And keep in mind that most parts do not fail all at once; they deteriorate over time and when they exceed a limit you get an error.

Is there a particular cleaning product you recommend?

I don't recall the brand I use (maybe CRC) but you can readily find it (MAF sensor cleaner at most auto parts stores. I likely got mine from Advance Auto years ago.
