Lots of searching, but no answer to be found, and I cannot get the top to do anything now. I can turn the trunk lock with the key
but the top position likely is restricting access. Any and all help really appreciated, here's where it's at:

Is the pump still coming on when you try to close/open the top? If so there is probably a significant leak, seems like most have trouble at the main lift cylinders. The leak can cause a loss of hydraulic pressure and the system will no longer function. Mine failed at a similar point, I was able to manually close the tonneau the rest of the way (pushing forward carefully then down), get into the trunk, and follow the manual close/open procedure. If you look on YouTube for tophydraulics inc, they have an entire series on the 209, its very helpful.
Thank you Crazy00. No sound from the pump what so ever right now (up or down). I've see the tophydralics vidoes which are excellent and maybe if I get into the trunk that will solve the problem. I was afraid to push on the tonneau at all so I'll gently give that a try next.
What started this was I had the car parked and a big rain broke out, ran to the car and it was closing as usual except the passenger side latch near the windshield was slightly misaligned and didn't latch. So lowered it as usual and it hasen't moved from my photos above.
i was fortunate with mine. i managed to close it from the switch and not fully retract it back into the trunk.. i knew the hydraulic fluid was low but after hearing the noise from the top, i placed the top back into the close position and will just wait to have someone add fluid for me.
So I've pushed it down a little more but there's about an inch gap above the trunk. More than that it almost feels like I'm
hitting some kind of a stop there.
I've had enough for the day though as I did brakes and rotors all around on my wife's Fusion. Replaced all the silly
wheel nuts too as they have these chrome caps over the actual 19mm nuts that mess up after changing to winter tires
a couple of times. The silly security nuts are in the trash as well.
PROBLEM SOLVED!
One of these little buggers had come off the top itself and was still held in by a latch point above the windshield on the passenger side.
Relocating both now to the glove box has solved the problem.
They're just a little trim piece usually over the male part of the two latches on the soft top that mate above the
windshield clips. Nothing these cars need!
