2005 CLK 500

MFD Steering Wheel Buttons and horn inoperative after replacing battery

2005 CLK 500. Disconnected and reconnected battery negative cable to do maintenance on soft top cylinders. After reconnecting battery cable the MFD buttons on the steering wheel and the horn do not work?

All other electronic equipment seems to be working ok.

Any hints on how to proceede?

Do other stalks on the steering column work? Like wipers/blinkers/cruise control? So it might be related to the clock spring. Any SAS or ESP errors?

I know this is an older response but I am going through the same situation as the OP. Would the clock spring actually go bad after replacing the battery? I installed a new factory MB battery then this happened.

2005 CLK500 Convertible.

Wiper and washer INOP
Horn, message buttons with arrows INOP
rear buttons behind wheel inop.
