Question A few basic questions about headlights OEM vs aftermartket

Hi All,

My CLK500 (04) needs new head lamps. I tried to order some replacements but had connection issues. As in my headlamps have 2 (driver's side) connections and 3 (passenger side) connections where as the replacements only had one connection.

So obviously I got the wrong replacement. So I did some digging. My car VIN tells me my headlamp code is 614.

Questions:
What is the difference between 614 ad 615 codes?
What does 614 really mean? What am I getting with this code?
What would I lose if I replaced the lamps with aftermarket (one connection) replacements?
Finally, and in addition to the last question, would I have to code my car to ignore the connections that were no longer plugged in to anything?

Ideally, I'd like to replace my headlamps with what SHOULD be on there. There just seems to be a substantial price difference between the one connection replacement and the (hard to find) 2 or 3 connection replacements.
