Battery life expectancy
Hello Forum,
2008 CLK 550 cab, 39k miles. At a cold start the battery was sounding like it was laboring turning the engine over. Over time it was getting worse. On a battery tender the charged light did not come on. I replaced the battery.
Any idea as to the typical years of service one can expect from a battery?

Alright now! Rudney comes through again. Back in 2018 the man wrote -
“11.5v is too low. It probably is time for a new battery. The MBZ batteries used to last for may years, but lately, they seem no better than most, which is about 4 years.”

I change the battery in my CLK every 3 years whether it needs it or not. The alternative is breaking down at an inconvenient place and time and waiting an hour or more for a tow truck to arrive. It’s one of life’s little expenses that help avoid just one more grief that I really don’t need.
