2007 CLK550 W209 front bumper/lower liner metal clip

The clips are snapped to one of bumper taps so they can retain the lower fender liner. The whole thing (lower liner, extension and clip) came out as I was pulling out of a parking spot. These metal retainer are quite small and don't have any hole for screw. The bumper has a 8 (4 on the right and 4 on the left). The dealer can't to locate the correct part. Has anyone experienced this issue and was able to find the metal clip. Nowadays it's a headache to find someone to help you at the parts department. Most of the are new and don't have any clue. Thanks for your help

Hey fanfan,
Yes I know that part very well. Unfortunately I have had the worst luck with that area of my '06 CLK500(w/AMG styling pkg) and have gone through several sets of fender liner extensions, reinforcements, and clips.
I have found and ordered the clips you want, under two different part numbers -
Bumper reinforcement clip A0019886378
A0049885678
Hopefully the tabs on your bumper cover aren't damaged or broken completely off. If they are, you'll have to do some kind of plastic repair to build them back up to a size big enough for the clips to grab onto.
Are your bumper reinforcements (the parts in between the bumper cover and the fender liner extension - the clips hold these on to the bumper cover) still intact? If not, here are the part numbers for those pieces -
Bumper reinforcement(l.) A2098850116
Bumper reinforcement(r.) A2098850216
Bumper reinforce(l. side skirt) A2098850316
Bumper reinforce(r. side skirt) A2098850416
Hopefully this helps and if you, or anyone else, need any other information or help concerning that area of your car, let me know.

Thank you so much, Boss53177, for this information. It is exactly what I was looking for. God must have sent you my way because I've been looking for it for over 2 years. I already ordered and received part A2098850116 along with the push pins. I will order the clips so I can install the left lower fender liner that got ripped by a parking curb. You made my day. Thanks again for taking the time to reply to my post. Can I ask you what you used to repair the missing tab?
Thank you!

Yes sir. Glad I can help.
Ok so I used a combination of things. Basically what was readily and cheaply available. Mostly JB Weld and Bondo products. If I had to do it again I'd probably do some type of plastic welding. What I used (to put things back together) :
3M Bondo Self adhesive Body Patch
3M Bondo Fiberglass Cloth
3M Bondo Bumper Repair Kit
JB WELD Plastic Bonder
JB WELD SteelStik
JB WELD ClearWeld
MAX 5 MIN (5 minute epoxy adhesive)
Zip ties
Benzomatic utility torch
91% Isopropyl Alcohol
And a lot of 3M sandpaper

So I used these things in various places, in combination with each other(or not). As far as the tabs go - Cut pieces of the bondo body patch to the same shape as the existing tabs but add about 3/4" to the length. And I put 2 pieces of the body patch in each tab I had to make. They are covered with the JB WELD SteelStik, in the shape of the tab - except for the 1/2"-3/4"sticking out the back. This bare part is the part that connects(attaches) the tab to the bumper cover. Where it attaches to the bumper cover I sanded out some of the bumper cover material in the same shape as the 3/4"bare section (without SteelStik)and drilled a couple of holes in the bumper cover so that the epoxy I used here, would have an "anchor". You also have to make sure that the tab(s) are at the correct angle (both horizontally and vertically). Hopefully the pictures will help my explanation.
This is how my car looked after my wife, coming home from work early in the morning, in a dark section of I-25, hit a coyote going 75 mph. The next morning I went to the place where she said it happened, pulled over, got out and began to look for the pieces. My bumper cover literally shattered from the impact. I found most of the pieces (surprisingly, not the fog light) and the coyote. And so began my experience with bumper covers and fender liner extensions and clips, et. al, etc. etc....
Oh yes before I forget, I used the Benzomatic utility torch, lightly and quickly with the blue part of the flame, on the plastic, wherever ANYTHING was applied (glue, epoxy, putty, primer, whatever). Watch these YouTube videos for explanation and before attempting. Definitely a big part of my success with this project.

I'm sure you don't have damage this extensive and I hope you have much success (and fun).

Cats can smell the coyote.

I never did find some pieces.

Tab on the left is missing. Holes drilled so epoxy has an "anchor".

Had to make brackets for fog light to attach. This little section with the blue paint is the only part of the original bracket I found.

Painters tape still covering chrome bumper strips.
