Soft top working again!
Hi all,
A couple of months ago, my soft top failed to open.
I did note that the oil level was about 1.5 cms below the min mark. Bought some appropriate oil, topped it up, but no difference.
Changed out the big 40 amp fusible link, just in case.
No difference.
Even my iCarsoft scanner said it had an open circuit (rhand side behind rear seat, and also the switch above the top of the windscreen).
Last week I went to start the car and give it a run, discovered battery was flat.
I have a good charger, so put it on the pulse/repair setting, and then forgot about it for the week! ( This car is locked away in my garage with my E500, the C300 ‘daily’ lives outside).
Started the car up today and thought I’ll give the roof another try……and to my complete surprise it started to open and fully retract!
I opened and closed it another 5 times, just to be sure!
I now wonder if the battery level had been too low for a while, enough to start the car, but not enough to run the roof?
Im glad it’s all working again, as we are now heading to summer and it will be good to take out with the roof down!
