HK system has no sound - does it sound like my Amp?
Hi all,
I’ve got an 08 CLK550 convertible that has no sound…
Fuses pulled, inspected, and replaced:
#20
#24
#26
#36
#64
Nothing changed .
Command unit works perfectly and has all functionality. Navigation still works. Radio works (channel changing and scanning.) CD slot works.
CD changer does power up and cycles when ejected.
HOWEVER, Command unit does not recognize the changer - and does not give the ‘CDC’ as an audio source on the main audio page (current options are: radio, CD, and AUX.)
Everything seems to point to the amplifier. Any suggestions? Before I try replacing the amp.
It sounds more like a MOST issue as both your amp and CDC are not working. Both connected and communicating by MOST.
What other components do you have on the MOST ring telephone, Sirus! are these working?
Is the navi processor seperate, or built into head unit (NTG1 or NTG2
I don't have the phone feature enabled. Sirius is also not enabled according to the Command system.
I removed the CDC from the glove box to check the fiber connection - the Red light did flash when turning the system on. Unfortunately, I do not have access to STAR SDS system. My local dealer charges about $245 an hr. for labor / diagnostics.
unit part number is A2098207889 / MCS model - pic for reference
Did your car have any components on MOST installed originally, such as Sirus, Telephone, tele-aid etc, or were these never installed from factory.
A fault in any component on the MOST loop can cause the whole loop to fail.
I dont know about your head unit, but on NTG1 there is a service menu with a loop diagnodtic, which identifies all components on MOST.
With STAR SDS there are better diagnostics, and you can code out anything missing, but the loop needs to be closed.
I am suspicious as you have two components not working on the MOST loop. If just one other item was working, then you can assume MOST loop is good.
Without diagnostics, you could try linking out MOST on CDC or HK amp and see if the loop starts working. otherwise you can try replacing each, but thats an expensive game, and might not solve the problem!
Problem solved!!!! Got to digging around under the dash and somehow the power connector for the Mobridge MOST Bluetooth had came undone. Plugged her in and BAM! We have sound!
